When you come in for your first dental first visit, one of the things we will do is inquire about your full health history. For follow-up visits, you can let us know if anything has changed so we can make sure your oral health is on track.

Whenever you come in for a cleaning appointment, we will examine your teeth and gums for potential problems while they are easiest and most economical to treat. We look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral conditions such as oral cancer that can impact your overall health. To look for things beneath the surface, we use dental X-rays. This can help us look for jaw or jawbone damage, impaction of the teeth, abscesses or cysts, etc.

Next, we will deep clean your teeth, using tools to remove plaque and tartar deposits along and below your gum line, and follow that with flossing and polishing your teeth.

If we notice problems, solutions will be discussed. If you have tooth sensitivity from tooth grinding, we might recommend a night guard, if you have missing teeth or weakened teeth, we might recommend dental implants to help keep the remainder of your teeth from shifting or loosening. If you have gum disease, we might recommend additional cleanings.

If your daily oral hygiene routine needs stepping up, we might show you better ways to brush and floss, or suggest a therapeutic mouthwash be added to your routine. These may help with tooth sensitivity, inflammation of the gums, gingivitis, chronic bad breath, or cavities.
